About Research and Education Fund
As the Foundation Chairman and Professor of Psychiatry, Professor Char-Nie Chen established the Department of Psychiatry at CUHK in 1981. He established a solid foundation for undergraduate teaching in behavioural science and bio-psycho-social medicine. He passionately believed that psychiatry should be taught as a universal subject, just like other medical disciplines, for both undergraduate medical students and non-psychiatrists.
The department has established a research and education fund and is honoured to name the fund (Professor Char-Nie Chen education and research fund) after Professor Chen. The fund will be used in enhancing the education and research aspects of the department. In particular, there will be an annual Char-Nie Chen Distinguished Lecture that will invite the eminent psychiatrist and scientist of the world to come to Hong Kong to deliver the lecture.
This fund is dedicated to advancing the educational and research initiatives within our department. Your generous contributions will support various projects, including the annual Char-Nie Chen Distinguished Lecture, which will bring world-renowned psychiatrists and scientists to Hong Kong to share their insights and knowledge.
Professor Chen Char-Nie Research and Education Fund was inaugurated on 3 November 2018.
This fund will be used in
- Recruitment of visiting scholars, academic staff, honorary staff, etc. to deliver teaching and research-related activities,
- Support organization of department mental health activities e.g. workshops, conferences and seminars, etc.
- Support academic staff for research purpose,
